While the tabloids were all hot and bothered about an alleged affair between Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard for months, Page Six was the first outlet to report that the affair really happened (allegedly!) in the immediate wake of Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing. Marion was dragged into the Brangelina divorce drama through a whirlwind 48-hours of tabloid reporting, made worse by the rumors that she is currently pregnant, which might mean that she got knocked up around the same time that she was working on Allied with Brad. Reportedly, Angelina thought the affair was really happening. Reportedly, Marion was devastated by the speculation. It got so bad that Marion finally had to issue a public statement on her Instagram:
This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.
Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.
Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.

The “man of my life” is Guillaume Canet, her partner and the father of her son Marcel. While I still think the timeline of Marion’s pregnancy is… interesting, let’s say, if she’s coming out and telling us to leave her out of the Brangelina mess, I say we should just take Marion at her word. Maybe Angelina did suspect something, but that doesn’t mean that an affair happened. There’s also no hard-and-fast proof that Angelina even did believe there was an affair, by the way. In any case, leave Marion alone! She’s knocked up and in love with Canet. Let them be. We have bigger fish to fry (as do Brad and Angelina).
