Joshua vs Franklin fight card

Posted by Patria Henriques on Tuesday, May 7, 2024

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today’s heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua, the two-time former unified world champion, and Jermaine Franklin.

It is a massive night for 33-year-old Joshua. The London 2012 gold medalist is looking for his first victory since 2020 after falling to back-to-back defeats by the great Oleksandr Usyk in his last two fights. Joshua’s professional record now stands at 24–3, following a shock loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. earlier in his career.

He is the overwhelming favourite to beat Franklin tonight, but the 29-year-old gave more than a good account of himself when he took on Dillian Whyte in November 2022.

Whyte was expected to dispatch Franklin — who was fighting outside of the United States for the first time — with ease. But Franklin held his own against Whyte, the former WBC interim heavyweight champion, and was perhaps unfortunate to lose the contest, with two judges scoring it 116-112 in the Brit’s favour, with it level on the third card.

Ringwalks for today’s main event are expected at 10.41pm BST, 5.41pm EDT, 2.41pm PDT. Stick with us in the meantime as we begin building up to the heavyweight contest.
